The inaugural ceremony of the Religious Konkani Stage Play “Sipoy Saant”, was held at the Parish Hall, St Sebastian, Bendur here on February 20.
The programme began with an invocation. Parish Priest of Bendur, Fr Antony Serrao showered his blessings with prayers for the success of the play. The Konkani Stage play “Sipoy Saant” was inaugurated by Rohan Monteiro and Fr Antony Serrao by lighting the traditional lamp, followed by the writer of “Sipoy Saant” Claude D’Souza handing over the script to the director of the stage play, Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla).
Addressing the gathering Adolphus said that the same stage play was played 25 years ago and performed in 3 stages. This time it will be performed in 7 stages with 50 artistes. St Sebastian is the patron Saint of Bendur parish and the play will be a successful one. He urged all the artistes and the organizers to co-operate to make this programme a grand success.
Fr Antony Serrao speaking on the occasion said that the main aim to organize the play is to bring back the memories of our Saint and his life he lived. The play will boost the spirit of the parishioners and strengthen their faith.
Proprietor of Rohan Corporation, Rohan Monteiro speaking on the occasion said, ” The Konkani play ‘Sipoy Saant ‘ will enlighten the faithful and will also bring back the old memories of Saint Sebastian and fill them with new spirit “. Monteiro assured his whole hearted support towards this good cause.
Vice President, Parish Pastoral Parishad Ronald Valder delivered the vote of thanks. Leslie Rego welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
